Motor graders have traversed a long way since their invention in the late 19th century. Over time, they have improved and are now employed for multiple applications at various job sites. In the early days, these construction equipments were most commonly used for grading.
However, with the advent of time, motor graders have also been used to clear debris and brush and for snow removal. With various attachments, motor graders can become very versatile equipment. Motor graders or alternatively called as construction graders, are absolutely necessary equipment at any construction site.
Graders are mostly employed in constructing dirt and gravel roads and setting soil foundation pads before constructing large buildings. Grader equipment is employed after bulldozers complete their job to smoothen the surface for laying asphalt.
Moreover, a motor grader is heavy machinery used for precision finishing and excavating flat surfaces. They are usually self-propelled machines with an adjustable blade. Graders are available in many sizes and forms and can be used for several construction jobs.
The market has two types of graders: Rigid frame type and articulated frame type. The rigid frame motor grader is an old model with a single axle and cannot turn left or right. With only a few models left on the market, most manufacturers have had to deal with their restricted flexibility.
Three axles comprise an articulated road grader; two are in the back, and one at the front of the construction vehicle. Although some graders include an additional blade in front of the anterior axle, the blade is usually between the front and rear axles.
Here are some ways you can use a motor grade, depending on the project.
Earthmoving
Earthmoving is one of the primary uses of machinery. Motor graders help move dug soil from one location to another to pave the way for construction or access. Grader machines are beneficial in large earthmoving operations. They are efficient in hauling materials and landscape reshaping. They aid in forestry, mining, and agriculture tasks.
Surface Leveling and Fine Grading
A grader is one of the most essential and practical equipment road builders often employ to level the soil. The most typical use of a motor grader is most likely to create a level base for road building. Leveling off the surface before applying a bitumen layer to the road is typically required.
Snow and Ice Removal
The snow ploughing equipment applies to areas that fall under the Snow Belt. Depending on the snow’s depth, a motor grader can be equipped with various blades or ploughs, including a V-plow. After that, the machinery can dig up and remove snow or ice from the roadways.
Trenching and Ditching
For trenching and ditching, the grader can be equipped with a ripper, a claw-like device. The program is beneficial when designing drainage systems. Cutting wide bank canals can be done using the same idea.
Creating Inclines
Another use of graders is creating inclines with construction work requiring inclinations.
Motor graders are perfect for creating inclines or precise slopes. The adjustable blade angle with the use of the rear axle helps in creating inclines. The control hydraulic tilt helps create smooth and accurate inclines. You can set the proper blade depth in sync with the required incline angle.
Case Construction Equipment
The Case range comprises two series of Graders.
B-Series Graders
CASE motor graders come with a rugged A-frame, powerful engine & moldboard design, industry-leading flip-up rear hood, best-in-class serviceability & outstanding visibility.
845B
With enhanced cold-start capability and more robust throttle response at all rpms, the 845B motor grader will increase your productivity even on the most challenging tasks and longest days. The B series motor graders have a front articulation joint that gives the operator a clear view of the tires, moldboard, circle, and exceptional rear visibility.
865B
The robust A-frame and strong engine of the CASE 800 series motor graders offer plenty of stability. With its industry-first flip-up rear hood, best-in-class serviceability, and exceptional visibility, the 865B is incredibly robust and easy to maintain. The multi-radius involuted moldboard design improves productivity and fuel efficiency.
C-Series Graders
The machine drives faster with no extra torque. When a machine has an engine and gearbox combination similar to the B-Series, the lock-up system precedes the torque converter’s function. The lock converts the hydraulic coupling into a direct or rigid connection when engaged. Upon reaching predetermined engine speed and torque values, the gearbox electronics unit’s lock-up system activates automatically based on operating conditions. In travel situations, when the machine operates at a higher speed, and no additional torque from the torque converter is needed, the lock-up is typically activated.
845C
Thanks to its FPT Engine, the CASE 845C Motor Grader is an advanced engineering product, ensuring consistent power delivery with two distinct power curves. It prioritizes simplicity of use and safety by providing ground-level access for all major inspections, simplifying maintenance. Its many customizable choices highlight its adaptability, making it appropriate for grading applications. Its load-sensing hydraulic system and rear-mounted cab distinguish it from other graders and increase its productivity and efficiency.
865C
The CASE 865C Motor Grader combines strength and accuracy. With the FPT Engine installed, it has three power curves for improved efficiency. Central inspections are conveniently accessible, simplifying maintenance. Designed for rigorous assignments, its extensive feature set guarantees flexibility in various grading situations. The grader has features like a multi-radius blade and a torque converter lock-up to ensure excellent grading outcomes.
The motor graders are very popular machines among the large construction equipment companies in India. Case India is among the largest construction companies with various construction equipment, including compaction machines, bulldozers, graders, etc. The grader machine’s price is affordable while offering excellent performance.
